Conducting 3 Public Debates for Publicization Process, Agenda Explanation, and Gathering Citizen Opinions
Mokpo City’s Citizen Deliberation Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Deliberation Committee) for the establishment of the ‘Mokpo-type Public Transportation System’ held a preliminary workshop for the citizen participation group on the 28th to discuss the process of gathering on-site opinions on the city bus agenda.
According to the city on the 31st, this preliminary workshop involved presenting appointment letters to the citizen participation group, sharing the results of a citizen survey to facilitate the on-site discussion, and providing lectures explaining the concept of deliberation and the discussion process.
Additionally, to ensure a successful deliberation process, guidance was given on the direction that the citizen discussion should pursue and the role of the citizen participation group. Key topics related to the deliberation agenda, such as route reorganization, establishment of an operational system, and sharing of tangible and intangible assets, were explained. The group then discussed the direction for future citizen discussions.

The citizen discussions will be held three times on the 4th and 18th of next month and on December 2nd. Through subgroup discussions, expert explanations, and agenda preference surveys, the opinions of the participants will be conveyed to the Deliberation Committee.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul stated, “We hope you will convey various opinions from the field for the establishment of the Mokpo-type public transportation system,” and added, “We will strive to create a sustainable and convenient public transportation system for citizens based on the opinions received.”
Meanwhile, the citizen participation group was selected by random drawing from citizens who wished to participate through a survey conducted until the 19th. To ensure representativeness and diversity, classifications such as transportation mode, gender, and age were considered, resulting in the selection of 50 citizen participants and 10 alternates.
