Namwon Municipal Gugak Orchestra Attends UAE KOREA FESTIVAL Performance

The Namwon City Municipal Gugak Orchestra, Nongak Troupe, and Complex Cultural Experience Group attended the opening ceremony performance of the 2023 UAE Korea Festival held in the UAE (United Arab Emirates), promoting Namwon in Abu Dhabi.

According to Namwon City on the 31st, the Korea Festival 2023 is an event hosted by the Korean Cultural Center under the Korean Embassy located in Abu Dhabi. This year marked its 11th edition, and it was held simultaneously from the 27th to the 29th at Umm Al Emarat Park and the Korean Cultural Center in Abu Dhabi.

In addition to Namwon City, seven organizations including the National Gugak Center, Chungbuk Cultural Foundation, Ark Unit, Korea Creative Content Agency, Korea Tourism Organization, and AT participated with about 70 people, promoting Korea targeting the currently high interest in Hallyu and Korean cuisine in the Middle East region.

On the 27th, at the opening ceremony, the city’s Municipal Gugak Orchestra and Nongak Troupe delivered dynamic and splendid stage performances under the theme of Korea’s ‘Charm’ and ‘Excitement.’

The Complex Cultural Experience Group operated a Hanbok experience booth on the 27th and 28th and ran an exhibition hall featuring a promotional video of K-Myeongseung Gwanghallu Garden, produced by the Cultural Heritage Administration (with joint participation from Namwon City), fully dedicating their efforts to promoting Namwon City.

Mayor Choi Kyung-sik said, “Attending the 2023 Korea Festival was a great opportunity to showcase the charm and beauty of Namwon to the world in the UAE, the cultural hub of the Middle East. I hope that through the ‘exciting’ Gugak performance and the ‘radiant’ colorful Hanbok experience, the UAE has come closer to K-culture (Hallyu culture), and we will continue to do our best in cultural exchange activities to promote friendly relations between the two countries.”
