Listening to Citizens' Voices! ... Pohang Citizens' Communication and Empathy Day On the 31st, Pohang City held the '8th Civil Communication and Empathy Day' event at Heunghae-eup Administrative Welfare Center.

Following the event in Guryongpo last September, this event was organized to communicate with residents of eup, myeon, and dong areas. It provided explanations on major issues and directions for the Heunghae-eup region and gathered residents’ opinions.

First, under the theme ‘2023 Pohang Leaping into the World of Creative and Convergent Innovation,’ the event introduced the key focus projects of the Minseon 8th term, including the designation of a secondary battery and hydrogen fuel cell specialized complex, promotion of bio-health industries, and the establishment of a medical school, outlining the future direction Pohang should take.

Additionally, the city communicated with residents about ongoing projects such as the construction of the Yeongilman Bridge and the memorial park development project, as well as core elements for the development of Heunghae-eup including the Buk-gu Public Health Center and Trauma Center, Heunghae Public Library and Ainuri Plaza, and the Heunghae Complex Community Center.

During the dialogue session with residents, discussions were held on current issues in Heunghae-eup such as the Green Bio Park treatment facility, biomass power generation project, and Wind Power offshore wind power project. Pohang City explained its policy plans regarding these matters, making it a meaningful time to create a developing Heunghae-eup.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “For Pohang to develop, empathy with residents must come first, and we will continue to create opportunities for communication. I thank the residents who offered various opinions for designing the future of Heunghae-eup, and based on these, we will derive reasonable directions to lead the development of Pohang together with Heunghae-eup.”
