'Drug Charges' G-Dragon to Appear at Police on Next Month 6th... Lee Sun-kyun Also Recalled on Saturday

Singer G-Dragon (35, real name Kwon Ji-yong), who is accused of drug use, will appear at the police station on the 6th of next month for his first investigation.

Kwon's legal representative, lawyer Kim Soo-hyun, released a statement on the 31st saying, "(Kwon) will voluntarily appear at the Incheon Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Division on the 6th of next month." A police official also stated, "We have coordinated the schedule with Kwon's side," adding, "He is scheduled to be summoned and investigated in the afternoon of that day." However, the police declined to confirm the exact time of Kwon's appearance.

Like actor Lee Sun-kyun (48), who was summoned on the 28th, Kwon will appear at the Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station, where the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division office is located, to be investigated. The police plan to conduct a simple reagent test on Kwon to check for drug use.

Earlier, Kwon stated, "I have not used drugs," and "I will actively cooperate with the investigation." Kwon's legal team said, "We have informed the police that we will voluntarily submit all necessary materials for the investigation and actively participate in hair and urine tests to promptly resolve the misunderstanding through a swift investigation and rapid establishment of the truth."

They added, "We ask the press and media to take a responsible stance so that baseless false information does not cause irreparable damage to Kwon, who is a representative K-pop artist of Korea," and "We will take a strong stance against speculative reports, treating them as false information dissemination and defamation."

Meanwhile, the police plan to summon actor Lee again on the afternoon of the 4th of next month, this weekend, for a suspect interrogation. Lee, who is accused of marijuana and psychotropic drug charges under the Narcotics Control Act, tested negative in the reagent test on the day. The simple test usually shows a reaction if drugs were used within 5 to 10 days.

Considering the lower accuracy of the simple test, the police sent Lee's hair and urine samples to the National Forensic Service for a detailed analysis, and decided to secure Lee's statement first before the analysis results, which take at least two weeks, are available.

The police also plan to consider applying for an arrest warrant depending on whether Lee admits to the charges and the number of times he used drugs. Lee is suspected of using various drugs, including marijuana, at the Seoul residence of A (29, female), a manager of a nightlife establishment, since early this year.
