On the 28th (local time), KT&G held the final round event, IR Pitching Day, of the ‘Imagination Startup School’ at UNTAR University located in Jakarta, Indonesia. Imagination Startup School is a university student startup support program operated by KT&G’s local university student community, ‘KT&G Sangsang Univ Indonesia.’ Through an idea contest for university students, 91 teams advanced to the preliminary round. At IR Pitching Day, the final 15 teams presented their startup ideas and received expert feedback and prize money.
Additionally, KT&G successfully held ‘Sangsang Festa’ on the 27th (local time), introducing K-content to local university students. The event, held at Jakarta State University, featured a live concert by a popular local singer, as well as diverse performances by participants of the ‘Sangsang Univ’ classes, including K-POP vocals and dance, and traditional dance. A Korean culture experience booth was also set up, attracting over 1,000 local university students who enjoyed the Korean cultural festival.
Banners and signs supporting the bid for the ‘2030 Busan World Expo’ were installed inside and outside the ‘Sangsang Festa’ venue. During the event, promotional videos for the Busan World Expo were screened, and Indonesian university students also joined in supporting the Busan World Expo bid.
The KT&G Welfare Foundation constructed a new elementary school in the Bogor area of Indonesia and held a completion ceremony on the 25th (local time). This educational environment improvement project, which began in December last year, transformed the old and poor building into a new educational facility incorporating seismic design. Additionally, new educational equipment such as PCs, printers, air conditioners, and desks were installed in the computer room, library, and science lab.
A KT&G official stated, “To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Korea-Indonesia diplomatic relations, we are taking the lead in communication between the two countries through cultural exchange,” adding, “We will continue to strive to spread Korean culture and promote exchange through various platforms.”
