When Consumers Request Ticket Cancellation
Refund Delays or Contact Loss
The Korea Consumer Agency has issued a warning as consumer damages related to the online movie ticketing site 'Cinema365,' operated by K Marketing Group, are increasing.
According to the Consumer Agency on the 31st, from July this year to the 19th of this month, a total of 56 damage relief requests related to K Marketing Group were received over approximately three months. Many of these complaints involved delayed refunds upon ticket cancellations and lack of contact. The company offered consumers holding movie discount coupons a service to book tickets at a cheaper price than general booking sites through the movie ticketing site 'Cinema365,' restricting payment methods to bank transfers only. However, since early September, numerous consumer damage cases have been reported involving delayed refunds for cancellations and missed bookings, resulting in consumers being unable to watch their movies.
Currently, it has been confirmed that the company is not answering phone calls and has closed its business premises. However, the Cinema365 site has continued to update movie booking information recently and guides users to use the one-on-one inquiry board, making it appear as if it is operating normally, raising concerns about the spread of damages, the Consumer Agency stated. A representative from the Consumer Agency urged, "Please avoid using this site as much as possible," and added, "Be cautious when using other sites that offer excessive discounts or encourage cash payments."
Meanwhile, the Consumer Agency said it is closely cooperating with Gyeonggi Province to address consumer damages and has requested administrative action against the company for violations of the Electronic Commerce Act from the relevant local government, Deogyang-gu, Goyang City.
