Hanwoo Day was established on a day when the number 1 appears three times in a year, symbolizing that Hanwoo, the pillar of Korean agriculture and the world's only genetic resource, is the best, number one, and supreme cultural heritage to be passed down to future generations.

The 'Korea Hanwoo Eating Day,' hosted by the Korea Hanwoo Association, Nonghyup, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and consumer organizations, will be held at the Seoul Hanaro Mart Yangjae branch. There will be tastings of Hanwoo dishes such as Hanwoo burgers and Hanwoo Tormangchi barbecue, as well as a Hanwoo steak food truck. The 2023 Hanwoo Culture Contest awards ceremony and performance events will also take place.

The 'Korea Hanwoo Eating Day' event will be held simultaneously nationwide. Kim Sam-ju, president of the Korea Hanwoo Association, said, "November 1st is a day to convey the sincere wishes of Hanwoo farmers for all citizens to enjoy joyful and happy times with Hanwoo," adding, "Please enjoy and love Hanwoo even more so that Korea Hanwoo Eating Day can expand to become a global Hanwoo Eating Day."
