KISA Announces '2024 Regional Blockchain Technology Innovation Support Center Establishment Project' Contest

Applications Accepted Until December 5
Expecting an Innovation Hub for Blockchain Technology Leadership and Industry Development Centered on Local Regions

The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) announced on the 30th that it is recruiting metropolitan local governments to participate in the "2024 Regional Blockchain Technology Innovation Support Center Establishment Project," which aims to promote balanced regional development and discover technologies and services in the blockchain industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT. Through the Regional Blockchain Technology Innovation Support Centers, KISA plans to discover blockchain services linked to region-specific industries and support the development of blockchain technologies and services to foster local companies.

The selected metropolitan local governments for this project will utilize 1.8 billion KRW in government subsidies along with local funds to pursue ▲ the establishment of blockchain development environments and service demonstrations ▲ support for blockchain technology and service development ▲ establishment of support systems for blockchain company growth (including incubating, training practical personnel, creating investment environments, and legal and institutional consulting). The application is open to 14 metropolitan local governments nationwide, excluding Seoul, Busan, and Daegu. Local governments must form a consortium with one ICT institution located in the region that they have invested in or contributed to, and submit their applications through the KISA project management system (cont.kisa.or.kr) by the 5th of next month.


Lee Won-tae, Director of KISA, stated, “The Blockchain Technology Innovation Support Centers are expected to serve as pivotal hubs leading blockchain technology innovation within regions and contribute to revitalizing local economies.” He added, “KISA will continue to make efforts to promote balanced regional development and nurture the blockchain industry ecosystem.”
