i-SENS Completes Expansion of Songdo Plant 2... Producing Continuous Glucose Monitors and More

i-SENS held a completion ceremony for the expansion of its Incheon Songdo Plant 2 on the 27th, the company announced on the 30th.

I-SENS announced on the 30th that it held a completion ceremony for the expansion construction of its Songdo 2 Plant in Incheon on the 27th. Officials are cutting the ribbon at the completion ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by i-SENS co-CEOs Cha Geun-sik and Nam Hak-hyun, along with other stakeholders. Songdo Plant 2, which began construction in April 2022, consists of two buildings with a total floor area of approximately 18,000㎡, including one basement floor and three above-ground floors, and was completed on the 5th of this month. i-SENS plans to manufacture not only continuous glucose monitors but also point-of-care diagnostic products such as blood electrolyte and blood gas analyzers at Songdo Plant 2.

In September, i-SENS became the first domestic company to launch the continuous glucose monitor (CGM) 'CareSens Air,' developed with proprietary technology, in the Korean market. CareSens Air is currently preparing for overseas release, aiming to obtain CE certification in the first quarter of next year.

At the completion ceremony, CEO Nam Hak-hyun stated, "Songdo Plant 2 will be the cradle of i-SENS's future, housing automated lines for continuous glucose monitors and production lines for hospital point-of-care diagnostic products. Marking this completion, we will significantly contribute to the advancement of Korea's medical device industry and leap forward as the nation's leading diagnostic medical device company."
