A woman in her 20s who assaulted an employee of a company she had never met and even attacked the police officers who arrived at the scene was sentenced to a fine.
According to the legal community on the 30th, the Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 3 (Presiding Judge Lee Hyerim) sentenced A (29) to a fine of 7 million won for charges of assault and obstruction of official duties.
A was prosecuted for assaulting B, with whom she had no prior acquaintance, in front of a company office in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, on the morning of July 7.
A became angry after hearing B say "Please leave," and threatened B with an umbrella she was carrying and scratched B’s neck and chest with her fingernails, among other acts of violence.
She also verbally abused and struck the two police officers who arrived at the scene after receiving a report, hitting them multiple times with her fists and other means.
The police officers and B are reported to be seeking strong punishment for A.
The court stated, "The crime is serious as the defendant assaulted both the police officers and a victim she had no prior acquaintance with, and it is necessary to strictly punish the obstruction of legitimate official duties."
