Wando-gun Operates 'Visiting Youth Academy' in Island Areas

Humanities Lectures and Support Programs for Cultural and Hobby Activities 진행

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 30th that it operated the ‘Visiting Youth Academy’ for two days from the 24th to the 25th targeting youth in island areas.

The county has been running youth support programs such as youth capacity building, employment and entrepreneurship education, and one-day classes based at the Wando Youth Center ‘Wansaeng’.

The ‘Visiting Youth Academy’ was conducted targeting Geumil-eup and Nohwa-eup, where it is difficult to use the Wando Youth Center and there are relatively fewer opportunities for cultural and hobby activities due to being island areas. On the 15th of next month, it plans to visit the youth in Gogeum-myeon.

The program included a special lecture by a notable figure titled ‘The Role and Pride of Youth for Regional Development’ by Instructor Seo Sang-il, and cultural experience events such as ‘Making My Own Leather Accessories’ and ‘Autumn Flower Therapy’.

A participant in the program said, “While communicating and creating works together, I felt like I found a momentary vitality in life,” and added, “I hope various cultural programs will continue to be offered.”

Jung In-ho, Director of Population and Job Policy, stated, “Starting with this academy, we plan to open and operate courses that youth desire,” and added, “We will do our best to promote effective youth policies such as employment and entrepreneurship education, community activities, and cultural welfare support.”

Meanwhile, the Wando Youth Center ‘Wansaeng’ is equipped with meeting rooms, shared offices, a cafe and lounge, and operates from Monday to Saturday (excluding legal holidays) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
