Strengthening Exchange and Win-Win Cooperation Across Various Fields Between Two Cities

At the ceremony, Lee Kang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, Kim Seong-su, Mayor of Haeundae District, Baek In-gyu, Chairman of Pohang City Council, Lim Mal-sook, Busan City Council member, and other officials from both cities attended.
Pohang City and Haeundae District are key cities in the Gyeongbuk and Busan regions, sharing many commonalities such as their scenic coastlines, geographical locations, and maritime culture.
Based on these commonalities, the two cities agreed to establish opportunities for strengthened mutual cooperation and relationship enhancement across all fields including administration, economy, culture, sports, and festivals.
In particular, they plan to promote mutual development through active exchanges by sharing regional tourism resources and festivals, and to strengthen cooperation aimed at improving the interests and quality of life of residents between the two cities.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok and Mayor Kim Seong-su opened the door to exchanges this year by mutually donating hometown love donations to each city.
Kim Seong-su, Mayor of Haeundae District, was born in Singwang-myeon and spent his childhood in Pohang, having a deep connection with Pohang, while Lim Mal-sook, Busan City Council member, also hails from Songra-myeon and attracted attention by attending the event together.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “Pohang City and Haeundae District are cities with many similarities sharing the East Sea,” adding, “Through this agreement ceremony, we will strive to build a stronger mutual cooperation system, promote active exchange projects, and work toward regional joint development.”
Pohang City has sister city agreements with eight cities including Gwangyang City in Jeonnam, Buan County in Jeonbuk, Nowon District in Seoul, Suseong District in Daegu, Suwon City in Gyeonggi, Seocho District in Seoul, Cheongsong County in Gyeongbuk, and Ulleung County, actively promoting exchange cooperation and mutual development.
