Hampyeong-gun Conducts Safety Korea Training at Two Locations Simultaneously

On the 26th, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 27th that the 2023 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill was conducted simultaneously at two locations: the Hampyeong-gun Disaster Comprehensive Situation Room and the Hampyeong Culture and Sports Center.

The drill assumed an explosion caused by a terrorist bomb and a large-scale fire at a multi-use facility, and was conducted simultaneously at two locations to cultivate the ability of the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (headed by the county governor) and the Disaster Site Integrated Support Headquarters (headed by the vice governor) to operate in mutual coordination in response to an actual disaster.

The Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters held a situation assessment meeting and a task force report at the county office disaster comprehensive situation room, attended by 18 people including officials from the Hampyeong Police Station, Fire Station, and the 2nd Battalion of the Army’s 8332 Unit.

Meanwhile, the Integrated Support Headquarters conducted a joint response drill among related organizations at the Hampyeong Culture and Sports Center, with over 130 participants from 8 institutions and organizations. The drill included establishing traffic control lines, suppressing terrorists, extinguishing fires, and rescuing the injured following a terrorist’s stabbing rampage, bomb explosion, and large-scale fire.

County Governor Lee Sang-ik said, “I thank all related organizations and everyone who actively participated in the drill,” and added, “We will further strengthen cooperation among related organizations and do our best to protect Hampyeong from disasters, terrorism, and other dangerous situations.”

Meanwhile, the Safe Korea Drill must be held once a year, led by the head of the local government and involving related organizations and groups, in accordance with the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety.
