The symposium will be attended by 13 overseas brain scientists and neuroengineers, including world-renowned scholars from universities such as UC Berkeley, New York University, and ?cole Polytechnique F?d?rale de Lausanne (EPFL), as well as brain-based AI researchers from Google DeepMind and IBM Research.

On the first day of the symposium, Yang Dan, the Chair Professor of Neurobiology at the University of California, Berkeley, and Olaf Blanke, Professor at the Neuroprosthetics Center of EPFL, will deliver the opening keynote speeches on the topics of "Top-down Attention and Global Ignition: Circuit Dissection in Mice" and "The Neuroscience of Self-Consciousness," respectively.

On the second day, sessions will feature lectures and discussions on talent development, educational curriculum, the current status of the Department of Brain Cognitive Science, and the necessity of brain science research, with participation from Professor Moon-Il Moon of DGIST’s Department of Brain Science, Professor Sang-Hoon Lee of Seoul National University’s Department of Brain Cognitive Science, Professor Je-Won Cho of Ewha Womans University’s Department of Brain Cognitive Science, and Professor Min-A Seo of Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Global Biomedical Engineering.

On the final day of the symposium, KAIST plans to discuss collaboration with New York University in the field of brain cognitive science. Paul Glimcher, Chair Professor of Neuroscience and Physiology at New York University and founder of the Centre for Neuroeconomics, will deliver a keynote speech on "Advanced Technology Collaboration in Life Medical Neuroscience."

Jae-Seung Jeong, Chair of the Department of Brain Cognitive Science at KAIST, said, "The participation of world-renowned scholars who are rarely seen in Korea as symposium speakers itself demonstrates the high interest and expectations of the academic community for KAIST’s Department of Brain Cognitive Science," adding, "KAIST aims to grow into the largest brain cognitive science department in Asia within 10 years and will strive to become a foothold for brain cognitive science research encompassing neurobiology, cognitive science, neuroengineering, and brain medicine."
