U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken welcomed Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister of China, at the State Department building that day.
In remarks made public to the press, Minister Wang emphasized, "There are differences between China and the U.S., but at the same time, there are important common interests," adding, "Therefore, we must engage in dialogue and cooperation." Secretary Blinken expressed great anticipation for constructive dialogue.
