Establishing Cleaning and Management Plan for Mullae Creative Village This September, Launching Full-Scale Environmental Maintenance... Promoting Waste Disposal Guidelines, Installing Mobile CCTV, Concentrated Deployment of Inspectors, etc.
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it is promoting the ‘Mullae Creative Village Customized Clean Project’ to prevent habitual illegal dumping of garbage and create a pleasant urban environment.
Located in Mullae-dong 2-ga, Mullae Creative Village is a cultural street representing Yeongdeungpo, characterized by a unique blend of ironworks, art, popular restaurants, and cafes.
However, as Mullae Creative Village has established itself as a major popular tourist destination, the increase in tourists and dining establishments has led to a rise in various types of garbage, becoming a community issue.
In response, the district established the ‘Mullae Creative Village Cleaning Management Plan’ in September this year and is embarking on full-scale environmental maintenance. The district analyzes the status and causes of illegal dumping to resolve habitual complaints and foster a proper garbage disposal culture.
The district visits residences and stores within Mullae Creative Village to distribute promotional materials on garbage disposal and official notices regarding enforcement. Detailed guidance is provided on proper garbage disposal, including ▲disposal locations (in front of one’s house or store) ▲disposal times (daily from 8 PM to midnight, disposal prohibited on Saturdays) ▲disposal methods (household waste, food waste, recyclables).
Additionally, food waste containers located along main roads are relocated in front of restaurants to encourage proper disposal. Sidewalks contaminated by food waste leachate are cleaned with high-pressure water to create clean pedestrian paths.
Furthermore, mobile CCTVs and banners prohibiting garbage disposal are installed to ensure collection companies collect garbage promptly. Illegal dumping inspectors are also concentrated in the area to strictly crack down on violators.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Mullae Creative Village is a vibrant tourist attraction in Yeongdeungpo, home to diverse culture, art, and charming shops,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create a safe and pleasant environment so that Mullae Creative Village can be loved by even more people.”
