At the time, the Korean tourists were enjoying an 'off-road tour' running along a stream between valleys with a local driver. However, the vehicle was suddenly swept away by the rapidly rising currents, causing the accident.

Three tourists who could not escape the vehicle were found dead, and the driver and one male escaped but the male also died while being transported to the hospital. The local driver was reported to have sustained minor injuries.

According to local authorities, heavy rain had fallen in the area for three days before the accident, and it is presumed that a large amount of rainwater flowed in, raising the water level.

The tour product was completely suspended immediately after the accident. Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reportedly instructed the responsible departments and local authorities in the accident area to conduct a detailed investigation and handle the situation. Prime Minister Chinh also expressed condolences to the bereaved families who lost relatives in the accident.

According to Yonhap News and others, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to dispatch a consul to the site to provide necessary assistance and is also in contact with the bereaved families.
