Chinese authorities have launched an investigation into the mainland China operations of Foxconn, a Taiwanese company and Apple’s largest partner. The Chinese government reaffirmed that this is a "normal law enforcement action."

At a press conference on the 25th, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China, stated, "Relevant departments on the mainland conduct compliance inspections on all enterprises equally according to laws and regulations," calling it a "normal law enforcement action."

Zhu added, "It is necessary to emphasize that our policy stance, goodwill, and sincerity to respect, care for, and ensure the happiness of compatriots in Taiwan remain unchanged," and said, "We continue to support investment by Taiwanese companies on the mainland, create a favorable development environment, and continuously improve preferential policies for Taiwanese compatriots and enterprises."

He further emphasized, "Taiwanese companies should share in the growth benefits and significant development on the mainland while also bearing corresponding social responsibilities," and "They should play a positive role in leading the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations."

According to the state-run Global Times, Chinese tax authorities recently conducted investigations into Foxconn’s offices in Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces regarding taxes and land use. The Ministry of Natural Resources of China also investigated land use issues at Foxconn’s factories in Henan and Hubei provinces. Foxconn operates production bases across China, employing hundreds of thousands of people. Over 80% of the world’s iPhones are produced at the Zhengzhou factory in Henan Province.
