Geochang-gun, Regional Self-Sufficiency Center Selected as the Best Rural-Type Institution Nationwide

15 Indicators Show High Performance in 10 Monthly Surveys

Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 24th that the Geochang Regional Self-Support Center was selected as the Best Rural-Type Institution Nationwide in the 2023 National Regional Self-Support Center Performance Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This evaluation was conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, which classified 228 regional self-support centers nationwide by type and investigated 15 indicators over 10 months from 2021 to 2022, including self-support achievements of participants, operation performance of business groups, external resource linkage, and community contribution. The Geochang Regional Self-Support Center achieved high scores in all indicators and was selected as the Best Rural-Type Institution Nationwide.

The Geochang Regional Self-Support Center has over 80 participants across 8 business groups and 2 self-support enterprises. It has been actively promoting the reusable container cleaning business "Eco Washing," which opened last year, and the kimchi manufacturing business "Haetsal Food." It also operates the existing mobile steam car wash "Clean Business Group" and the local food production "Farming Business Group" solidly. In particular, it showed excellent results in all areas, including a participant self-support success rate of over 60% and subscription rates for asset formation support programs such as Hope Savings and Youth Tomorrow Savings.

As a result of being selected as the Best Institution, the Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to provide a performance bonus of 17 million KRW, which will be used for program development to promote self-reliance and self-support among low-income groups and to support the activation of self-support projects.
