Prosecution Demands 1-Year Prison Sentence in First Trial

The representative of an apartment management company, who was prosecuted for responsibility in the death of a worker who fell from a ladder while working without a safety helmet, received a suspended prison sentence in the first trial, prompting the prosecution to file an appeal.


According to the legal community on the 23rd, the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office submitted an appeal to Judge Lee Seok-jae, head judge of Criminal Division 5 at the Seoul Northern District Court, on the 18th regarding the case of Jeong Mo, the representative of the apartment management subcontractor, who was indicted for violating the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and other charges.

Previously, on the 12th, Judge Lee sentenced Jeong and apartment management office manager Bae Mo to eight months in prison with a two-year suspension. Additionally, a fine of 30 million won was imposed on the subcontractor corporation.


They are accused of failing to take adequate safety measures in connection with the incident last April 15, where employee A of an apartment management office in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, fell from a height of 1.5 meters while repairing a ceiling leak after climbing a ladder and died.
