Selected for the 'Digital Twin National Land Pilot Project'

Gyeonggi-do Icheon City is tackling urban problems with 'Digital Twin.'
On the 23rd, Icheon City announced that it was additionally selected for the '2023 Digital Twin National Land Pilot Project' contest promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. 'Digital Twin' refers to a technology that replicates real objects identically in a virtual world as a 3D model, supporting decision-making through simulation-based analysis, prediction, and optimization.
The Digital Twin National Land Pilot Project, for which Icheon City was selected this time, is a project aimed at discovering innovative ideas that can effectively solve urban problems such as safety and environment using digital twin technology and applying them as pilots. Icheon City explained that it was additionally selected this time by applying with the 'Development of Future City Design Simulation Based on Digital Twin.'
The city added that it was especially effective to form a one team with Mayor Kim Kyung-hee of Icheon and Song Seok-jun, a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party representing the local district, to apply for the contest. Mayor Kim and Assemblyman Song actively persuaded the government that Icheon City, which has various characteristics such as a semiconductor advanced industrial city, rural smart farm city, Han River basin natural environment conservation area, and military city, is the optimal testbed for the early completion of Digital Twin, which is 'National Task 38' of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, achieving additional selection.
Mayor Kim Kyung-hee said, "Through linkage with the latest artificial intelligence (AI) technology, Icheon City will lay the foundation for the early realization of the Digital Platform Government."
