Park Jong-hyo, Mayor of Namdong-gu, Incheon: "Incheon High Court will be hosted in Namdong-gu"

Park Jong-hyo, the mayor of Namdong-gu, Incheon, has decided to actively support the establishment of the Incheon High Court in Namdong-gu.

According to Namdong-gu on the 23rd, Mayor Park stated at the '2023 Resident Communication Meeting' held at Namdong-gu Office on the 20th, "Namdong-gu is the optimal location for the High Court," expressing his commitment.

The Resident Communication Meeting was created to share the district administration philosophy by informing the main policy directions of the 8th local government term and to communicate with residents through open dialogue. During the Q&A session with the mayor, Kim Min-jae, chairman of the Namdong-gu Residents' Autonomy Council, proposed the 'consideration of attracting the Incheon High Court to Namdong-gu,' and Mayor Park responded that he would actively promote it.

Mayor Park said, "Namdong-gu is home to major administrative institutions in Incheon such as the City Hall, Office of Education, and Police Agency. Considering the connectivity with other administrative institutions, I believe it is the optimal location for the High Court. If the High Court is established within the Guwol 2 Public Housing District currently under development, I am confident that not only Namdong-gu residents but also citizens of Incheon, Bucheon, and Gimpo will be able to receive legal services without time and economic burdens."

So far, Namdong-gu has actively participated in signature campaigns for attracting the Overseas Koreans Office, APEC Summit, and Maritime Court, which were key projects promoted by Incheon City. Going forward, the district plans to fully engage in attracting the court building to Namdong-gu once the bill for establishing the Incheon High Court passes the National Assembly.

Mayor Park stated, "If the establishment of the Incheon High Court is confirmed, I will make every effort to attract it to Namdong-gu," adding, "Attracting the High Court requires the united cooperation of Namdong-gu residents, so I hope the representatives of the residents will provide much support."
