The death toll on both sides has surpassed 6,000 since the war between Israel and the Palestinian armed faction Hamas began.
According to foreign media on the 22nd (local time), the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported that a total of 4,651 Palestinians have died due to Israeli attacks since the 7th.
The Israeli media outlet 'Times of Israel' reported that approximately 1,400 Israelis have died due to Hamas attacks during the same period. Israel has not released an official death toll.
The Gaza Strip Ministry of Health explained that 40% of the deceased are children. It also stated that 70% of the cumulative 14,245 injured are children and women. In the past 24 hours, 266 Palestinians have died, of whom 117 were children, it added.
Israeli police confirmed the identities of 769 civilians who died in the Hamas attacks on the 7th, and among them, 673 bodies have been handed over to families for burial.
The police explained that they are working in 24-hour shifts to identify the deceased, but face difficulties as many bodies were burned, mutilated, or destroyed.
An Israeli military spokesperson stated that 212 people are being held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Ministry of Health reported that since the 7th, a cumulative total of 5,132 injured have been treated in hospitals due to the war.
