Couple Camping at Gwangju Reservoir Dies from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

A couple who were fishing and camping at a reservoir in downtown Gwangju were found dead.

According to the Gwangju Northern Police on the 22nd, a report was received around 3:10 PM that day stating that two people appeared to be dead inside a fishing tent at a camping site near Family Land reservoir in Saengyong-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.

Police investigation revealed that the couple, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s, were believed to have turned on a heating device and fallen asleep after fishing, leading to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Based on the degree of decomposition of the bodies, the police estimate that several days have passed since their deaths and plan to investigate the exact cause of death.
