Jeonnam Jangseong-gun "We Will Take the Lead in Achieving Gender Equality"

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 22nd that it held a Gender Equality Week commemorative ceremony on the 20th at the small theater of the Jangseong-gun Culture and Arts Center.

The event was hosted by the county and organized by the Jangseong-gun Women's Association Council. The theme was ‘Gender Equality in Jangseong: Working Together and Caring Together.’

It was prepared to share the true meaning of gender equality with the residents and to raise awareness and interest in practicing gender equality.

About 250 people participated, including Kim Han-jong, the head of Jangseong-gun, Lee Gae-ho, a member of the National Assembly representing the district, Ko Jae-jin, chairman of the Jangseong-gun Council, provincial and county council members, and heads of institutions.

The event began with trot dance and samulnori performances by children from daycare centers, followed by an award ceremony for meritorious persons, viewing of activity videos by organizations, slogan chanting, and a special lecture according to the program.

Kim Ok-hee, president of the Jangseong-gun Women's Association Council, stated, “We will make greater efforts to improve community awareness that recognizes the differences between men and women without discrimination and prejudice and to promote the value of gender equality.”

Kim Han-jong, head of Jangseong-gun, said, “We will provide various supports so that gender equality can successfully take root centered on homes and workplaces.”

Jangseong-gun plans to create a public childcare sharing space and a public children's playground at the ‘Family Center,’ which is under construction and scheduled for completion in April next year, and also plans to establish an after-school ‘Together Care Center.’

Policies considerate of women are also actively being promoted, such as village communal meals, the Happy Voucher Project for women farmers, and support for purchasing electric vehicles for women farmers.
