BNK Gyeongnam Bank Hosts 'Gyeongnam Bank Cup Gyeongsangnam-do Institutions, Companies, and Amateur Soccer Tournament'

30 Teams from Institutions, Companies, and Community Sports Organizations in Gyeongnam Participate... Engaged in Intense Matches Over Two Days

BNK Gyeongnam Bank held the '2023 BNK Gyeongnam Bank Cup Gyeongsangnam-do Institutions, Corporations, and Recreational Soccer Tournament' over two days on the 21st and 22nd.

The opening ceremony, held at the Changwon Soccer Center Main Stadium, was attended by Deputy Governor Shin Tae-su, Gyeongsangnam-do Deputy Governor Choi Man-rim, National Assembly members Kim Young-sun and Kang Ki-yoon, Changwon City Council Chairman Kim Yi-geun, Gyeongsangnam-do Assemblyman Park Nam-yong, Gyeongnam Football Association President Kim Sang-seok, Changwon Football Association President Oh Jin-yeol, along with other distinguished guests, 20 institutions from Gyeongnam Province, 4 corporations, 6 recreational sports teams, and cheering squads.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Governor Shin returned the championship flag to the Changwon Office of Education, last year’s winning team, and awarded scholarships to six promising local soccer players.

In his congratulatory address, Deputy Governor Shin said, “Looking back at the early tournaments in 2008, I remember it as a small soccer competition involving only local institutions. However, judging by this year’s event, I believe it has grown into a soccer tournament boasting tradition and prestige. I am grateful for the passion and love shown for the BNK Gyeongnam Bank Cup Gyeongsangnam-do Institutions, Corporations, and Recreational Soccer Tournament over more than 15 years.”

He continued, “I hope all participating players will fully demonstrate the skills they have honed. Furthermore, I expect the 2023 BNK Gyeongnam Bank Cup Gyeongsangnam-do Institutions, Corporations, and Recreational Soccer Tournament to become a festival of sportsmanship, where mutual respect and fair competition prevail. Going forward, BNK Gyeongnam Bank, as the region’s representative bank, will continue to show interest and support for the development of local sports and the revitalization of recreational sports.”

After the congratulatory address, Deputy Governor Shin Tae-su participated in the players’ oath and, together with the guests, performed the ceremonial kickoff.

The 2023 BNK Gyeongnam Bank Cup Gyeongsangnam-do Institutions, Corporations, and Recreational Soccer Tournament began with the opening match between BNK Gyeongnam Bank and Inje University Paik Hospital.

In the institutions division, BNK Gyeongnam Bank, Goseong County Office, Changwon City Hall A & B, Gimhae Cultural Foundation, Inje University Paik Hospital, Korea Institute of Materials Science, Gyeongnam Technopark, Gimhae City Hall, Changwon Jungbu Police Station, Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, Changwon Facilities Corporation, Gimhae Urban Development Corporation, Gyeongnam Provincial Government, Changwon University, KT Changwon Branch, Army General Maintenance Depot A & B, Masan Dongbu Police Station, and Changwon Leisure Park competed in a tournament format for the preliminaries.

In the corporations division, Daehung R&T, Hanwha Aerospace, Haesung DS, and Gyeongnam Energy participated and competed.

In the 50s age group recreational sports division, teams from Masan, Yangsan, Gimhae, Changnyeong, Haman, and Changwon competed fiercely.

Meanwhile, BNK Gyeongnam Bank awarded team and individual prizes based on the results of the 2023 BNK Gyeongnam Bank Cup Gyeongsangnam-do Institutions, Corporations, and Recreational Soccer Tournament.
