Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has been selected as an excellent institution in the final evaluation of the ‘2023 National Happiness Civil Service Office’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and will receive the Prime Minister's Award.
Yeongdeok-gun awarded the 'Prime Minister's Agency Commendation' selected by the National Happiness Civil Service Office.
The National Happiness Civil Service Office is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluates 24 items across four categories?internal and external environment of the civil service office, service, on-site experience, and satisfaction survey?targeting 245 administrative agencies nationwide, including metropolitan and local governments, city and provincial education offices, and the National Tax Service, and certifies excellent institutions.
The certification period is three years, and with this award, Yeongdeok-gun will be recognized as a National Happiness Civil Service Office until December 2026.
To be certified as a National Happiness Civil Service Office, Yeongdeok-gun underwent a four-stage evaluation process including a document review in June, an on-site inspection in August, and a covert evaluation in September, resulting in the great achievement of being finally selected as a National Happiness Civil Service Office this October.
In this evaluation, Yeongdeok-gun received high marks for its efforts to create an optimal civil service office space that anyone can conveniently use.
From December last year to May this year, Yeongdeok-gun expanded the civil service office space and greatly improved the civil service environment through remodeling work on the Comprehensive Civil Service Processing Division.
Accordingly, a nursing room was installed where civil service visitors accompanied by infants and young children can comfortably change diapers or breastfeed, and a new civil service consultation room was created where visitors can have professional consultations with responsible officials.
In addition, to consider the convenience of socially vulnerable groups, all doors leading to the civil service office were replaced with automatic doors to enable easy access for people with disabilities, document writing desks were improved, and dedicated counters for people with disabilities and pregnant women were arranged.
Furthermore, a civil service guide helper was operated, and a three-sided information board was produced so that visitors who are visiting the civil service office for the first time or are unfamiliar with civil service tasks can handle their business easily and conveniently. To create a safe civil service office environment, fixed tempered glass was installed at the main office and all civil service counters in the county’s towns and townships, improving the administrative environment and enhancing user convenience, which received high evaluation.
Regarding this award, County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol stated, “The certification as a National Happiness Civil Service Office is an external recognition of our county’s efforts to carry out citizen-centered administration,” and pledged, “We will not be satisfied with this and will strive even harder to provide high-quality civil service administration that citizens can feel.”
