Jo Min (32), the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, who was indicted on charges of admission fraud, has stated that she admits to all charges ahead of her first trial.
According to the legal community on the 19th, Jo's lawyer submitted a statement to Judge Lee Kyung-sun of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 16 on the 13th of this month, indicating that they admit to all the charges and agree with the evidence. It is reported that they also expressed agreement with the prosecution's evidence. The court has scheduled the first hearing for December 8.
However, Jo's side reportedly argued in the statement that the prosecution's indictment constitutes an abuse of prosecution rights and that the charges should be dismissed.
Jo was brought to trial on charges of obstructing the admission review process by submitting falsified application forms, self-introduction letters, and forged commendation certificates from the president of Dongyang University to the admissions office of the Busan National University Medical School on June 10, 2014, along with her mother, former Dongyang University professor Jung Kyung-shim.
She is also charged with submitting falsified self-introduction letters and forged supporting documents, including an internship confirmation letter in the name of the director of the Public Interest and Human Rights Law Center at Seoul National University Law School and a commendation certificate from the president of Dongyang University, to the Seoul National University Medical School.
