Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do announced that the representative festival of Suncheon, the ‘2023 Suncheon Food and Art Festival,’ held from the 7th to the 9th along Jungang-ro, concluded successfully.

At the opening ceremony on the 7th, a themed performance combining food and art under the title ‘Suncheon Hansang’ marked the start of the festival. This was followed by performances by singer Yang Ji-eun and idol group ONF, and the night was further brightened by an EDM party.

Additionally, the 8th National Food Competition, utilizing local specialties from the Suncheon area as ingredients, added variety to the festival.

On the 8th, there was a cooking class with star chef Park Chan-il, Agora performances featuring local artists, a congratulatory performance by popular singer Park Jae-jung, and a spectacular light performance. On the 9th, dance competitions by local youth, tango performances, and a performance by the dance team HOOK followed.

Moreover, the festival was fully packed with circus performances, busking shows, street gym programs, and Suncheon Four-Cut photo zones installed throughout the venue.

Notably, this year’s festival enhanced enjoyment by dividing food into themed zones: the Red Zone featuring dishes with sauces and seasonings, the Yellow Zone with fried foods, and the Green Zone selling well-being foods. It was praised as a festival that people of all ages could enjoy with various experience programs such as the representative food zone, youth pocha zone, food truck zone, large barbecue zone, and mini gimbap making.

Furthermore, booths inspired by exotic global alley night markets showcased street foods from around the world, and distinctive rest zones were installed at each food booth to provide spaces for relaxation and enjoyment.

In addition, at Nammunteo Square, a Moonlight Playground was operated, consisting of air bounce facilities, a cartoon cafe, and a campnic zone for children. On Culture Street and Yeonja-ro, an art market displayed various artworks, craft and garden-related exhibitions, caricature services, and diverse experience programs were held.

Meanwhile, Suncheon City received high praise for the successful festival by providing convenience to visitors through safety measures, traffic control, installation of a lost child protection center, and facilities for wheelchairs and strollers.

A Suncheon City official said, “The fact that many visitors came to the 7th Suncheon Food and Art Festival this year and that it has established itself as Suncheon’s representative festival is thanks to the active cooperation and interest of Suncheon citizens,” adding, “We will strive to make the Food and Art Festival a cultural event that brings joy to even more people.”
