Honda New Accord Launched in Korea... Hybrid Priced at 53.4 Million KRW

Honda Korea launched the new model of the mid-size sedan Accord on the 17th. It is a car that has been sold worldwide, including in South Korea, for over 50 years, and this new vehicle is the 11th generation complete redesign model.

In the domestic market, hybrid and gasoline models were released. The hybrid Touring is priced at 53.4 million KRW (including VAT), and the turbo model is 43.9 million KRW. It is available for purchase through Honda's online platform. Exterior colors include white, gray, and black, with hybrid-exclusive colors (Urban Gray and Canyon Reversible Blue) also available.

The new car has a longer overall length than the previous model. It features a fastback style with a smoothly connected rear. The interior emphasizes details such as colors, materials, and special stitching. It is equipped with a 10.2-inch TFT digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch center display.

The hybrid model uses a 4th generation 2-motor hybrid system. The company explained that it combines a newly developed 2.0ℓ direct injection Atkinson engine with an e-CVT (electronically controlled continuously variable transmission) to emphasize acceleration performance. The engine produces a maximum output of 147 horsepower and a maximum torque of 18.4 kg·m, while the motor delivers 184 horsepower and 34 kg·m of torque. A charging mode that allows the battery to be charged while driving has been added, extending the EV driving range. The driving force enabling EV driving at speeds below 50 km/h has also been increased.

A motion management system that allows the driver to control the car as intended has been applied for the first time. It integrates control of the powertrain and brakes according to steering wheel operation to optimally manage the additional deceleration during cornering. It generates deceleration to control pitch motion in order to increase the grip of all tires. The company explained that this improves handling performance in slippery conditions such as snow or rain and on narrow curved sections. The gasoline model is equipped with a 1.5ℓ direct injection VTEC turbo engine and CVT. It produces a maximum output of 190 horsepower and 26.5 kg·m of torque. Noise reduction technology for the drive belt has been applied for the first time.

The Honda Sensing driver assistance system has improved performance with a wide-angle camera that expands the field of view up to 90 degrees and a 120-degree radar for adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist systems. A new Traffic Jam Assist feature that detects lanes with the camera and helps steering has also been added. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can be connected both wired and wirelessly. The hybrid model includes heated seats in the front and rear, as well as ventilated front seats.
