Geumcheon-gu Signs Exchange and Cooperation Agreement with Hanyang University

Linking Advanced Technologies of G-Valley High-Tech Companies and Universities

Geumcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced on the 17th that it signed a business agreement with Hanyang University at the district office to promote close mutual exchange and cooperation.

Geumcheon-gu's G-Valley is home to more than 10,000 companies and employs over 100,000 workers. Geumcheon-gu signed the agreement to lead the regional industrial economy by linking advanced companies in G-Valley with the excellent technologies possessed by the university.

Geumcheon-gu and Hanyang University agreed to cooperate on 'commercialization of excellent technologies owned by the university,' 'mutual research and development plans to improve the quality of life of Geumcheon-gu residents,' and 'matters necessary for mutual development and friendship between the two institutions.'

According to major employment indicators for cities, counties, and districts in the first half of this year, Geumcheon-gu has the highest youth employment rate in the country at 63.9%. Additionally, the youth population aged 25 to 39 is rapidly increasing. In response to this regional trend, Geumcheon-gu and Hanyang University plan to actively cooperate in operating advanced technology education and nurturing future talents to expand employment and start-up opportunities for young people.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon said, "G-Valley has many start-ups that want to start businesses with good ideas and small but strong companies operating with advanced technologies," adding, "This agreement provides an opportunity to develop Geumcheon into a 'business-friendly Geumcheon' where capable companies can thrive."
