DJ Who Targeted Minors at Disco Pang Pang for Sexual Assault and Illegal Filming Sentenced to Prison

Court: "Victim Reports Significant Mental Distress"

A DJ who called a teenage female student, who came to use the private amusement ride 'Disco Pang Pang,' to his residence, sexually assaulted her, and illegally filmed her was sentenced to prison.

According to the legal community on the 16th, the Uijeongbu District Court Criminal Division 11 (Chief Judge Jo Young-gi) sentenced a man in his 20s, Mr. A, who was indicted on charges including statutory rape of a minor and violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse (production and distribution of sexual exploitation materials), to four years in prison.

Mr. A was indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a female student, a regular customer, multiple times at his residence, a karaoke room, and a parking lot while working as a DJ at a Disco Pang Pang store in the metropolitan area last May.

Despite knowing that the victim was a minor, Mr. A continued the crimes and was found to have produced sexual exploitation materials by filming with his mobile phone.

The court explained the sentencing rationale, stating, "Sexual violence crimes not only cause significant physical and psychological trauma to the victim but can also severely hinder the victim's healthy sexual value formation and growth. The victim has realized the harm and is experiencing considerable mental distress, strongly requesting severe punishment for the defendant."
