Daedong Hospital dispatched a medical support team to the ‘29th Dongnae Eupseong History Festival’ on the 14th, providing blood pressure and blood sugar measurements as well as health consultation services to local residents attending the festival.
Organized by Dongnae-gu, Dongnae Cultural Center, and the Dongnae Eupseong History Festival Promotion Committee, the event took place over three days from the 13th at Dongnae Eupseong’s North Gate, Oncheoncheon Stream, and Oncheon Square.
This year’s festival was held under the theme ‘Meeting Joseon in 1592.’ Local residents participated in enjoying the festival as Joseon-era Dongnae Eupseong citizens through performances such as a musical depicting the Battle of Dongnae Fortress, which tells the story of Dongnae Magistrate Song Sang-hyeon and the townspeople fighting against the Japanese army, a reenactment of the Dongnae three-strand tug-of-war, and experiencing the Dongnae marketplace.
In addition, a variety of cultural and performance programs were held, including Dongnae Hakchum (traditional dance), Dongnae Yaryu (traditional mask dance), a reenactment of the Dongnae Magistrate’s official duties in a yard play, and the Dongnae Eupseong Song Festival, as well as participation and experience programs such as Dongnae Hyeminseo (traditional medical clinic), Eupseong Arcade, and Dongnae One Step Night Walk & Moonlight Tea Picnic.
About 500 local residents visited the Daedong Hospital health booth, which participates in the festival every year.
Park Sung-wook, Deputy Manager of the Planning and Public Relations Team at Daedong Hospital, who participated as part of the medical support team, said, “Although there are many famous festivals in Busan, the unique charm of the Dongnae Eupseong History Festival, which allows people to enjoy and experience the history that only Dongnae has, cannot be compared to other festivals.”
He added, “It was meaningful and rewarding to communicate with local residents at Dongnae-gu’s representative festival, where Daedong Hospital is located, and to be able to contribute even a little.”
Daedong Hospital actively engages in activities to communicate with local residents, including bazaars, concerts for patients, and medical volunteer services at senior centers.
