Voices demanding 'change' are growing within the Justice Party, which failed to make a significant impact with a vote share in the 1% range in the by-election for the Gangseo District Mayor.
On the 16th, Kim Chang-in, leader of the Youth Justice Party, called for the entire leadership to resign through his social media (SNS), stating, "The Lee Jeong-mi leadership should not turn a blind eye to the results of the Gangseo District Mayor by-election, but must take the greatest responsibility and demand the greatest change through a total resignation."
He said, "We suffered a devastating defeat. Even if it hurts, if we do not face and acknowledge this painful failure head-on, we cannot move forward. As the youth representative of the Justice Party, I will take responsibility first. I hereby resign as the leader of the Youth Justice Party today."
The problem in this election was a 'lack of strategy.' He pointed out, "'There were other opinions such as 'We must open a third space' and 'We must move toward progressive unification,' but Lee Jeong-mi ignored them,' and 'However, the alliance with the Green Party failed, and the progressive unification was not achieved, yet the leadership was dragged along in these discussions, effectively leaving the election in a state of strategic absence throughout.'"
He added, "Lee Jeong-mi’s self-reliance theory failed. Now, the fundamental direction of the Justice Party must be changed. Starting with the resignation of the leadership, the direction of the Justice Party’s reestablishment and the promotion of a new party must be fundamentally changed."
