Mobile Laundry Service Usage Increases by 120%

Lundrigo Announces '2023 Laundry Trend Report'

Uiksikju Company (CEO Seongwoo Jo) announced on the 16th that its mobile laundry service 'Laundrigo' has released the '2023 Laundry Trend Report,' which captures trends in home laundry and paid laundry services.

The survey included in this report was conducted among 1,000 men and women aged 20 to 59 who are involved in home laundry, residing in Seoul and the metropolitan area. Among the respondents, 59.8% were women and 40.2% were men, with age distribution as follows: 19.8% in their 20s, 27.2% in their 30s, 28.1% in their 40s, and 24.9% in their 50s.

It was found that 7 out of 10 respondents spend time on laundry three or more times a week. In particular, 78.3% of married households do laundry three or more times a week, indicating they invest more time in laundry than unmarried households. Although unmarried households spend less time on laundry, they feel more burdened by it?over 10% more than married households?with more than 50% of unmarried women reporting this burden.

Mobile Laundry Service Usage Increases by 120%

The number of households owning dryers or clothing care devices also increased compared to last year. The ownership rate of dryers rose by 7.2 percentage points to 48.9%, and clothing care devices increased by 2 percentage points to 15.9%. As the ownership of clothing care devices increased, the difficulty of home laundry slightly improved; however, high-end clothing (78.2%, multiple responses), special material garments (71.1%), jackets and coats (63%), and suits (60.8%) were still identified as items difficult to launder at home.

A notable point is the change in the usage rate of paid laundry services. The usage rate of mobile laundry services grew by 120% compared to the previous year, showing the most remarkable growth. Coin laundries increased by 106%, while neighborhood laundries were at 91.9%. The decline in the usage rate of neighborhood laundries was observed across all age groups, with a significant drop among middle-aged and older adults who had previously maintained high usage rates. Reasons for satisfaction with mobile laundry services included pickup and delivery availability (59.7%), easy service usage (48%), and fast laundry (32.3%), indicating overall high satisfaction with the convenience of mobile laundry services.

Seongwoo Jo, CEO of Uiksikju Company, stated, "Examining customers' laundry lifestyles, we found that while the increased distribution of home laundry devices has somewhat alleviated difficulties, laundry remains the most cumbersome and annoying household chore in our daily lives. We will continue to improve our services from the customer's perspective and lead innovation in laundry."
