Busan Gijang-gun Selects Recipients for the 14th Gijang-gun Citizen Awards

Busan Gijang-gun has finalized the selection of three recipients for the '2023 14th Gijang-gun Citizen Awards,' honoring residents with outstanding achievements in various fields.


The awardees for this year were chosen by category: Park Se-ryong (Gijang-eup) in the Culture and Arts category, Kwon Myo-yeon (Gijang-eup) in the Local Volunteer Service category, and Moon Gye-hoon (Cheolma-myeon) in the Industrial Economy category.


Park Se-ryong, the Culture and Arts awardee, contributed to the enhancement of local cultural welfare and the development of arts and culture through volunteer performances utilizing his musical talents.


Kwon Myo-yeon, recognized in the Local Volunteer Service category, devoted herself to the community through proactive and leading volunteer activities, supporting vulnerable groups and guiding youth.


Lastly, Moon Gye-hoon, the Industrial Economy awardee, was acknowledged for strengthening the status of local agricultural products by establishing an eco-friendly agricultural system and introducing advanced agricultural technologies.

The recipients will be awarded plaques of commendation, have framed photos displayed in the Gijang-gun Office Civil Service Room, have their achievements published in the Gijang-gun Gazette, and receive special privileges such as invitations to various events hosted by the county.


Jung Jong-bok, the mayor of Gijang-gun, expressed his gratitude for the hard work of the awardees who have done their best in various fields to develop and bring honor to the hometown, and urged them to continue contributing to the development of Gijang-gun.


The Gijang-gun Citizen Awards are presented biennially across five categories: Culture and Arts, Sports, Local Volunteer Service, Industrial Economy, and Good Deeds.


Eligibility for nomination requires continuous residence in Gijang-gun for over 10 years, a spotless moral record, and recognition by fellow citizens. Candidates must have achievements in the respective award categories and be recommended by administrative heads, leaders of various organizations, or by a petition signed by more than 50 residents.


The final recipients are determined through a rigorous review by the Gijang-gun Citizen Awards Selection Committee, with decisions made by category.
