Damyang-gun, Torch Relay to Wish Success for the 104th National Sports Festival

13 Runners Participate in Relay, Touring Damyang-gun Office and Others

On the 12th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the torch for the success of the 104th National Sports Festival arrived in Damyang-gun on the 11th and a commemorative event was held at the Damyang-gun Office plaza.

The torch, which started from Jangseong on the 2nd day, arrived in Damyang-gun and the event began at the county office.

About 200 people attended the event, including Lee Byeong-no, the head of Damyang-gun, Choi Yong-man, chairman of the Damyang-gun council, Jeong Yeong-chang, president of the Damyang-gun Sports Council, as well as social organizations and residents.

In addition, 13 torchbearers participated, and the Damyang Wau Nongak Preservation Society performed a traditional street play, creating a spectacular scene.

From the 14th to the 15th, competitions in two sports, dance sports and bodybuilding, will be held at the Damyang Sports Complex and Damyang Cultural Center.

Governor Lee Byeong-no said, “We ask for the great interest of the residents in the National Sports Festival held in Jeollanam-do for the first time in 15 years,” and added, “We will do our best to prepare so that the dance sports and bodybuilding competitions held in Damyang can be successfully conducted.”

Meanwhile, the torch relay started at the Jeonnam Provincial Office and toured 22 cities and counties over four days from the 10th to the 13th. On the 13th, the torch will be lit at the Mokpo Sports Complex cauldron during the opening ceremony of the National Sports Festival, and again on November 3rd at the opening ceremony of the Disabled Sports Festival.
