The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education's Climate Crisis Response Education Center will operate a climate environment exhibition titled "The Only Earth" for two days from the 21st to the 22nd, targeting students and citizens in the Ulsan area.
During the exhibition, various activities such as planned exhibitions, environmental film screenings, cooking competitions, and hands-on events will be held to help students and citizens empathize with the message conveyed by "The Only Earth" and participate in climate action.
The planned exhibition features junk art made from waste materials conveying messages from dinosaurs about the Anthropocene era, and the environmental film screening of "Sura" showcases the wonder of life held by the last tidal flat, Sura.
A low-carbon cooking competition will also be held for six teams that passed the first recipe contest.
The low-carbon cooking competition is themed "Making Character Lunchboxes of Ganjeolgot," focusing on cooking methods that reduce carbon emissions and utilize local ingredients. Top winning teams will receive a package of local specialties worth approximately 100,000 KRW sponsored by Seosaeng Nonghyup as prizes.
Hands-on events include making keychains from waste materials, succulent plant pot making, flower songpyeon (rice cake) making, upcycling glass birds for resource circulation (necklace making), and making wooden household items infused with carbon.
The Climate Education Center has advised participants to bring containers needed for the activities (such as transparent PET cups, songpyeon containers, reusable shopping bags, tumblers, etc.) and recyclable items to donate (glass bottles, PET bottles, aluminum cans, small home appliances, etc.) to reduce waste generated during the event and practice carbon neutrality.
Those wishing to watch the environmental film "Sura" or participate in the hands-on events of the climate environment exhibition can make advance reservations through the Climate Education Center website starting from 9 a.m. on the 13th, while the junk art exhibition can be viewed without prior reservation.
