Invitation to Gwangjin-gu On(Nu)ri Family Festival

Autumn Festival for the Whole Family at Guui Park on the 21st... Various Activities Including Writing Contest and Sports Day... Opportunities for Outstanding Participants to Win Awards

Invitation to Gwangjin-gu On(Nu)ri Family Festival

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold the “2nd On(Nu)ri Family Festival,” where diverse cultures and generations come together to communicate.

The festival will take place on the 21st at Guui Park. Organized by the Gwangjin Family Center (Center Director Yoon Myung-ja), a variety of events that the whole family can participate in, such as a writing contest, sports competition, and multicultural experiences, have been prepared.

First, the main event, the “Gwangjin Family Writing Contest,” will be held. Participants will write poems or prose on a theme announced on the day, competing in literary skills. It will be divided into student and general divisions, with 12 winners selected from 100 participants.

Alongside this, a “Multicultural Family Sports Competition” will be conducted. The sports events include badminton and jump rope, with 15 teams and 20 participants competing respectively. The badminton event is a doubles tournament for high school students and adults, while the jump rope event is an individual competition for elementary school students.

As a side event, a variety of experience booths themed around multiculturalism will be set up. Participants can make international flag bracelets, LED world travel bags, Vietnamese traditional hats, and traditional house models, and taste representative snacks from around the world such as mooncakes and pineapple tarts. Additionally, there will be opportunities to try on multicultural costumes like the cheongsam and kaplaap (traditional Dutch clothing).

Moreover, family-oriented activities such as engraving face shapes with pressed flowers or making nameplates will be offered. Collecting certification stamps after using the experience booths will earn participants small prizes.

The festival is open to anyone interested. However, for the family writing contest and sports competition, applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis via QR code until the 17th of this month. On-site registration will also be available for the writing contest on the day of the event.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have prepared a festival where the whole family can gather to experience and communicate diverse cultures,” adding, “We hope many people participate and create joyful autumn memories with their families and neighbors.”
