Ganggu Haepalang Park, Autumn Music Stage, Free Saury Tasting and Sale
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is preparing the ‘East Coast Staff Notation Lighthouse Music Festival’ and ‘Samchi Eating Day’ filled with the scent of autumn to captivate tourists' tastes.
This project, jointly conducted by Gyeongbuk Province and Yeongdeok-gun, is part of the East Sea Marine Leisure Tourism Joint Marketing initiative, hosted by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture and Tourism Corporation, and will take place on the 14th around Haebarang Park in Ganggu-myeon, famous for Yeongdeok Snow Crab.
First, the lighthouse music festival will feature a variety of performers from different genres, including ballad singer Kassy, the group Nolae Gayageum Gayageum composed of gayageum and acoustic guitar, Biwa Sunset performing biwa music, and the opera soloist Fedora.
Along with the music festival, various events such as a photo booth, flea market, experience booths, and plogging will be held. In particular, the ‘Samchi Eating Day’ organized by Yeongdeok-gun together with Ganggu and Yeongdeok Northern Fisheries Cooperatives and the Jeongchimang Association is expected to stimulate many people’s appetites like the deepening autumn.
The Samchi Eating Day event consists of a booth where anyone can easily taste prepared samchi (Spanish mackerel) for free and a sales booth where 5 to 7 medium-sized samchi can be purchased for 20,000 KRW. The event will end early once 200 boxes are sold out.
This year, the samchi catch in Yeongdeok-gun reached 2,397 tons in volume and approximately 4.7 billion KRW in sales as of September, more than tripling compared to last year, making it the most significant species in the local fish market.
Through this event, Yeongdeok-gun plans to promote the consumption of seafood, which has been sluggish, and exhibit excellent local seafood processed products, providing visitors with carefully selected fresh and high-quality seafood.
County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol said, “We hope you enjoy the deep autumn nostalgia by the Yeongdeok sea, where romantic melodies flow and the flavors of excellent seafood come together.”
