"Both CEO and Employees Are University Students"... Dong-Eui University International Tourism Management Department Operates Tourism Business

The Amedist Team and Gaetrip Team from the Department of International Tourism Management at Dong-Eui University were recently selected in the ‘2023 Regional University-Linked Tourism Dure Preliminary Youth Resident Business Recruitment Contest,’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Tourism Organization.

This project involves student-run businesses that operate tourism-related ventures such as travel, accommodation, experiences, and souvenirs.

The selected teams will receive up to 15 million KRW in business funding for a maximum of two years to carry out activities linked to entrepreneurship, including developing region-centered tourism content, operating programs, and creating websites.

The Amedist Team plans to operate a resident business focused on night walking culture content in Dongnae, Busan, targeting foreign tourists by utilizing the complex cultural space Urban Bridge in Dongnae-gu, while the Gaetrip Team plans to run a resident business centered on travel programs and tourism product development for traveling with pets in Busan.

Team leaders students Ji-hyun Lee and Woo-seok Song said, “As students majoring in tourism, we believe this is a great opportunity to apply and experience the tourism content and programs we have planned in actual tourism settings,” adding, “We hope the project will be successfully carried out to contribute to regional economic development and the revitalization of the tourism industry.”

Professor Hyun-ji Kim, advisor of the Department of International Tourism Management, said, “With the selection as preliminary resident businesses, we expect the teams to develop various tourism contents and products in the Busan area, enhance their entrepreneurial capabilities, and ultimately become a foundation for growing into tourism professionals in Busan.”
