A man in his 30s arrested for violating restraining order and stalking ex-girlfriend hundreds of times

The Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced on the 11th that they had arrested A (35) on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes.

A is accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend by sending hundreds of text messages and visiting her residence and workplace over 130 times from May to July.

According to the police investigation, A committed these acts to demand reconciliation with his ex-girlfriend.

Previously, A had received a court order prohibiting him from approaching within 100 meters of his ex-girlfriend and from sending texts or other communications, but he violated these orders.

The police detained A considering that he violated all three provisional measures under the Stalking Punishment Act: written warning, prohibition of approach within 100 meters, and prohibition of access via electronic communication media, and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the case.
