Gyeonggi Province will hold an on-site briefing session and provide victim consultations over two days, on the 13th and 14th, at the former Gyeonggi Provincial Government building located in Paldal-gu, Suwon City, regarding the recently surfaced ‘Suwon Jeong Mo-ssi Group Jeonse Fraud Allegations.’
The briefing sessions will be held twice in the large conference room on the 4th floor of the new district office building to minimize disruption to the victims’ livelihoods: at 6:30 PM on the 13th and 2:00 PM on the 14th.
Earlier, the police received about 60 reports of ‘Jeonse fraud’ related to the same landlord in the Seoul metropolitan area including Suwon City (with unreturned deposit guarantees totaling approximately 8 billion KRW) and are currently investigating. As of the 10th, the Gyeonggi Province Jeonse Damage Support Center also received 297 reports related to the same landlord.
At the briefing, Gyeonggi Province will provide guidance on support measures and practical responses for victims who have not received their Jeonse deposit back despite the lease contract expiration, as well as tenants who still have remaining lease periods but fear they will not be able to recover their Jeonse deposits in the future.
The main information to be provided includes ▲ introduction to the procedures for reporting Jeonse fraud damage and determining support eligibility ▲ support contents for Jeonse fraud victims ▲ consultation on auction and public sale procedures.
Victims will be able to ask questions on-site and receive customized individual consultations if desired.
Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, promised, "We will promptly start the briefing sessions and one-on-one customized consultations to understand the desperate feelings of the victims, and furthermore, prepare practical alternatives to actively support the housing stability of the victims."
Since March 31, Gyeonggi Province has been operating the Jeonse Damage Support Center to assist Jeonse fraud victims. The center provides one-stop support including legal, financial, and housing support consultations, as well as accepting applications for ‘Jeonse fraud victim’ designation and conducting damage investigations.
Victim consultations are available from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM).
