Various Korean Medicine Experience Programs Held in Seoul Yakryeongsi Area on 13th-14th

The 29th Seoul Yakryeongsi Bojewon Korean Medicine Culture Festival Held Bojeonwon Oriental Medicine Culture Festival Herbal Medicine Experience

On a clear, blue sky day with a cool breeze blowing in autumn, a festival that the whole family can enjoy together is being held.


Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that from October 13 to 14, the 29th Seoul Yakryeongsi Boje-won Korean Medicine Culture Festival, hosted by the Seoul Yakryeongsi Association, will take place at the Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center and the Yakryeong Central Road area.


The event on the 13th will begin at 10 a.m. with preliminary events including ▲Boje-won ancestral rites parade and ritual ▲sharing of Korean medicine wild vegetable bibimbap ▲pre-performance by a pungmul band, followed by the main event at 2 p.m. at the main stage set up at the intersection of Seoul Yakryeongsi North Gate 1, featuring ▲opening ceremony ▲TBS music broadcast ▲lighting ceremony ▲guest singer performances in sequence.


On the second day, the 14th, the program will start with a Korean medicine auction where expensive herbal medicines can be purchased at affordable prices, followed by ▲Yakryeongsi singing contest ▲herbal medicine quick slicing competition ▲cultural performances, and more.


Additionally, to carry on Boje-won’s spirit of relief, various experiential events are prepared during the festival period, including free Korean medicine treatment for low-income residents recommended by each neighborhood (about 10 people per neighborhood) and visitors to the event, ▲making Korean medicine cosmetics and perfumes ▲cultural exploration of Yakryeongsi ▲Yakryeongsi market alley tours, among others. Online events such as ▲Korean Medicine Day events ▲“We Are United Through SNS as Korean Medicine Stars” will also be held.


At 3 p.m. on the first day, October 13, an academic seminar co-hosted by Dongdaemun-gu and the Sejong the Great Memorial Association will be held at the auditorium of the Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center. The seminar, themed “Uibang Yuchwi and Yangsaeng,” aims to study the health and medical value of traditional Korean medicine classics and explore modern development plans.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We have prepared various performances and side events, so we hope you experience Korean medicine culture and visit Seoul Yakryeongsi, the largest herbal medicine market in Korea, this weekend,” adding, “We will actively support the Seoul Yakryeongsi Boje-won Korean Medicine Culture Festival to grow into a world-class Korean medicine culture festival that widely promotes the excellence of traditional Korean medicine.”
