Dobong-gu, Recruiting Citizen Reporters

Dobong-gu Opens Recruitment for 50 Resident Reporters to Deliver Fast and Vivid District News

Dobong-gu, Recruiting Citizen Reporters

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has launched a recruitment drive for a community reporter group that will quickly and vividly deliver the latest district news to residents every month.

The Dobong-gu Community Reporter Group is an expansion of the existing female reporter program, which delivered various news such as district events and good news stories through Dobong News. The program has expanded and supplemented the gender, age groups, and fields, which were previously limited to certain targets.

First, the gender restriction, which was limited to female Dobong-gu residents, has been removed to recruit regardless of gender to realize gender equality. The age range, previously limited to adults, has been expanded from children to seniors to reflect opinions from various social groups.

The recruitment fields, previously limited to reporters, have added a model category so that residents can participate in district promotion not only through writing but also through visual images in various media.

The total number of recruits for the Dobong-gu Community Reporter Group is 50, with reporters and models selected by life cycle categories: ▲Children (5) ▲Adolescents (5) ▲Youth (5) ▲Adults (5) ▲Seniors (5) in each field.

Anyone who is a Dobong-gu resident, works in Dobong-gu, or is a student enrolled in elementary, middle, high school, or university in Dobong-gu can participate in the Dobong-gu Community Reporter Group. Residents who wish to participate can download the application form from the Dobong-gu website from October 10 to October 30, fill it out, and apply by email to the person in charge or by mail to the Dobong-gu Public Relations Office.

After the first document screening and the second interview screening, the community reporters will be finally selected by the end of November, and the results will be individually notified to the selected candidates. The term of office is two years from January 2024 to December 2025 (one reappointment possible), and a certain amount of expenses will be supported during activities.

The district plans to support district promotion activities by providing major event schedules and reference materials for coverage to ensure substantial activities of the community reporters, and plans to encourage reporter activities by selecting outstanding performers at the end of the year.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We aim to recruit community reporters from various social groups to fulfill residents’ right to know and realize a communicative district administration,” and added, “We ask for active participation from capable residents.” He continued, “We will continue to create channels to increase residents’ participation in district administration.”
