The exhibition presents works by the two artists, Lim Chang-min and Hwang Sun-tae, who have expressed the serene tranquility of deserted spaces through the medium of 'windows.' Media artist Lim Chang-min is well known for his series 'Into a Time Frame,' which combines photographs and videos of beautiful landmarks around the world. The artist photographs the interior window of a building looking out onto the outside scenery as a 'photo,' then inserts a 'video' of slowly flowing natural landscapes within it to complete the work. As viewers comfortably immerse themselves in the subtle breath of nature visible beyond the window in the artwork, they gradually find themselves being healed within the unique space-time woven by Lim Chang-min.

Contemporary sculptor Hwang Sun-tae, who has attracted global art collectors' attention with his series 'Spaces Filled with Light,' has expressed the shadows of sunlight entering indoor spaces through windows using his unique methods involving glass and LED. The intuitive world of light and objects, realized by the artist with transparent and bright green lines, offers a refreshing yet cozy atmosphere. The artist consistently presents works where furniture and small animals, along with the light and shadows illuminating them, fill empty spaces with warm comfort in places where humans have disappeared. The exhibition runs until October 28, at The Trinity Gallery at Grand Hyatt Seoul, Sowol-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
▲Kwon Do-yeon Solo Exhibition 'Twinkle Twinkle' = Perigee Gallery is hosting a solo exhibition 'Twinkle Twinkle' by artist Kwon Do-yeon. Through her series 'Bukhansan' and 'Night Walk,' the artist has consistently followed and photographed wild dogs roaming Bukhansan and wild animals found in the dark evenings. These animals appear as adapted to ecosystems altered by humans. The subjects covered in this exhibition can be seen as a continuation of her previous work. However, these new series present a different atmosphere from her earlier works.
The black-and-white landscapes of 'Twinkle Twinkle' feature only the light from the camera's flash or existing artificial lights such as street lamps or building lights. These scenes sometimes resemble theatrical stages or crime scenes. The landscapes revealed through this sparkling light include roads and bridges that lead and connect, distant views of cities, rivers, and grasslands. Upon closer inspection, various animals such as rabbits, cats, wildcats, otters, raccoons, owls, water deer, freshwater cormorants, and seagulls appear within the space. In some scenes, these animals seem to show sparkling eyes as if aware of the camera, while most are captured naturally engaged in their activities.
The meaning of 'Twinkle Twinkle' originates from the phenomenon of animals' eyes shining when caught by the camera's flash, but it also metaphorically refers to something previously distant from our gaze becoming visible. This is not a one-sided observation but a vivid sensation felt in the fleeting moment when both sides, having observed each other for a long time, meet each other's gaze. Ultimately, Kwon Do-yeon's photographs are the result of an act to open another door to allow us to see what we have not yet recognized, and through this artistic attitude, he presents the essence of the 'twinkling' landscapes where we and they face each other. The exhibition runs until November 25, at Perigee Gallery, Banpo-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul.
▲Jung Se-ra Solo Exhibition 'Night on the Road' = Space Supernormal is hosting a solo exhibition 'Night on the Road' by artist Jung Se-ra starting from the 12th. The artist has long expressed the anxiety and desires of urban dwellers through images of light, creating distinctive psychological landscapes. The term 'urban dweller' encompasses both modern and contemporary people. It also refers to those who were just beside me moments ago.
For artists, inner anxiety is never a subject for healing but an opportunity for reflection. Although the landscapes reflect inner anxiety, they also convey the depth of the mind sinking deeper. Through this exhibition, the artist presents more reflective yet dramatic images than before to the audience. The exhibition runs until November 14, at Space Supernormal, Hannam-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
