"Not Everything Is Good Just Because You Got Together with Your Crush" - Why?

Duo Conducts Survey Among 2030 Single Men and Women
Over 50% of Men and Women Became Couples with Their Crush

More than half of unmarried men and women reported having experience developing a romantic relationship with their crush. However, satisfaction levels remained around 60%.

Marriage information company Duo revealed the results of a survey on ‘dating a crush’ conducted on unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s on the 7th.

The survey was conducted by the survey company Macromill Embrain from the 5th to the 7th of last month, targeting a total of 300 unmarried men and women (150 men and 150 women). The confidence level was 95% with a standard error of ±5.66%P.

In the survey, 80.0% of men and 53.3% of women answered that they had confessed to their crush. The most common reason for confessing was ‘I thought I would regret it if I didn’t express my feelings’ (59.0%). This was followed by ‘to make the relationship certain’ (16.0%) and ‘because I thought the other person felt the same way’ (9.0%).

On the other hand, those who had never confessed to their crush (20.0% of men and 46.7% of women) most frequently cited ‘being shy to express their feelings’ (40.0%) as the reason.

57.3% of men and 54.7% of women said they had experience developing a romantic relationship with their crush. However, only 60.1% reported being ‘satisfied.’ 23.2% answered ‘don’t know,’ and 16.7% were ‘dissatisfied.’

Among those who answered that they were satisfied with dating their crush (67.4% of men and 52.4% of women), the top reason was ‘getting to know various sides of the partner that only lovers can see’ (31.7%). ‘Their appearance suits my taste’ (30.7%) and ‘because they have a good personality’ (17.8%) followed.

The reasons cited by those who were dissatisfied (11.6% of men and 22.0% of women) differed by gender. Men most often mentioned ‘because it seemed like the other person didn’t like me much’ (50.0%), while women most frequently said ‘because it was very different from the romance I had imagined’ (55.6%).
