The South Korean soft tennis national team won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The pair Kim Hyun-soo (Dalseong County Office) and Moon Hye-kyung (NH Nonghyup Bank) lost in a comeback defeat 4-5 (4-1 4-6 3-5 5-3 5-3 4-1 1-4 1-4 4-7) to the Japanese duo Uchida Riku and Shimuta Tomomi in the mixed doubles semifinals held on the 5th at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.
Kim Hyun-soo and Moon Hye-kyung led the game score 4-2 but then lost three consecutive games. In the final ninth game, they also failed to maintain a 4-1 lead and conceded six consecutive points.
In soft tennis, there is no separate match for third place; the pairs or players who lose in the semifinals are awarded bronze medals.
Additionally, the pair Kim Byung-guk (Sunchang County Office) and Ji Da-young (Anseong City Office) lost 2-5 (2-4 5-7 1-4 1-4 4-1 4-0 1-4) to the Japanese duo Uematsu Toshiki and Takahashi Noa in the quarterfinals, failing to advance to the semifinals.
On this day at the soft tennis venue, two matches between North and South Korea took place. In the group stage, Kim Byung-guk and Ji Da-young defeated Han Seong-ryong and Li Jin-mi 5-2, and in the quarterfinals, Kim Hyun-soo and Moon Hye-kyung also beat Han Seong-ryong and Li Jin-mi 5-2.
