Gangnam-gu 'Light and Sound Festival' Held

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the cultural event "Light and Sound Festival," where visitors can fully enjoy the autumn night atmosphere, on the 6th at 5:30 PM at the Jamwon Hangang Park Multipurpose Playground (near Apgujeong-dong Sinsa Interchange).

Gangnam-gu is a bustling urban area with skyscrapers and heavy foot traffic, but it is also a place where one can enjoy beautiful nature such as the Han River, Yangjaecheon Stream, and Tancheon Stream. This time, the district planned its first cultural and artistic event at Hangang Park to allow people to newly savor the Han River in Gangnam on an autumn night.

The festival uses two themes: light and sound. The Sound Festival, featuring various performances, will be held on the 6th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Performances include ▲Ahn Jeong-hyun’s electric violin recital ▲Kuknip Gugak Middle School’s Korean dance ▲Soriggot Gakaekdan’s fusion gugak pansori ▲Yeonhui Company Yuhee’s fusion percussion performance ▲Gangnam Choir & Il volare’s popera and choir, which will continue until 7 PM.

From 7 PM, magician Choi Hyun-woo will present a magic show using light for 30 minutes to conclude the festival. Anyone visiting Hangang Park can watch the performances for free. The performances will also be streamed live on Gangnam-gu Office’s official YouTube channel.

The Light Festival, where visitors can enjoy the Han River night view illuminated by lights, will continue from the 6th to the 8th. Around the Jamwon Hangang Park Multipurpose Playground, 18 LED installations such as lanterns, full moon, light tunnels, and flower gardens, as well as photo zones, will offer opportunities to create autumn night memories.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “I hope families, friends, and couples will create special memories on this first festival that will make Gangnam’s beautiful Han River park shine even brighter on autumn nights,” and added, “We will continue to hold various cultural events that enrich the everyday spaces of our residents.”
