Kakao Mobility announced that starting from the 5th, it will officially launch services for foreign visitors in Korea by connecting users of the Kakao T app with overseas super app users.
The global linkage system established by Kakao Mobility connects user demand generated through overseas apps with the supplier network of the Kakao T app. The technology of the global mobility intermediary platform 'Splyt' has been applied.
Kakao Mobility will first release a service allowing Chinese tourists, whose influx into Korea is intensifying, to call Kakao T Venti and Black vehicles. Subsequently, it will gradually expand the overseas apps and available services that can be linked with local apps in Southeast Asia, Japan, Europe, and other regions.
Accordingly, foreign visitors can call Kakao T Venti and Black vehicles using their native language on the app they used in their home country without installing a separate app or going through membership verification. Real-time automatic translation is provided for communication between drivers and passengers. Usage fees are automatically charged through the payment methods registered on the overseas app.
Kakao Mobility will assign personnel capable of foreign language consultation to the customer center to enhance convenience for foreign tourists. In the future, foreign language training will also be provided to brand taxi crews to ensure smooth service establishment.
Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, said, "Through the vehicle call service for foreign visitors, we aim not only to improve the mobility convenience of foreign tourists but also to help expand business opportunities for the domestic taxi industry." He added, "As a mobility platform, we will continuously seek ways to contribute to the revitalization of the domestic tourism industry."
